Sustainability Policy
The Hague Conference Centre
The Hague Conference Centre is committed to sustainability and actively takes steps to have a positive impact on the environment, working towards a more sustainable and eco-friendly events industry. We proudly share our efforts in the field of sustainability and are eager to describe how we contribute to a greener future.
Greenbookings
Since January 1, 2024, we have established a partnership with Greenbookings. Greenbookings makes a tangible contribution to a better climate, increased biodiversity, and healthier living conditions by planting trees for event and meeting locations in the Netherlands, in collaboration with Life Terra.
How does this work for The Hague Conference Centre? Through an online savings system, The Hague Conference Centre automatically saves 0.5% of every booking exceeding €5,000 for tree planting. Additionally, we offer our clients the option to double this percentage, thus enabling an additional positive impact on the environment. For more information about this initiative, please feel free to reach out to your contact person at our center. Together, we can make a difference for our planet and future generations.
BREEAM-NL Certificate
In 2023, the New Babylon building was certified by BREEAM NL. BREEAM, which stands for Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method, is utilized in over 80 countries worldwide. BREEAM is the international certification method for a sustainably built environment, providing insights into the sustainability performance of buildings.
The Dutch Green Building Council has adapted the method for the Netherlands, thus creating BREEAM-NL. This certificate offers detailed insights into the sustainability performance of the New Babylon building, encompassing not only energy efficiency but all aspects of sustainability.
Green Key
We are pleased to announce that we obtained the Green Key Gold certification in July 2024. Green Key is the premier international certification for sustainable businesses in the recreation, leisure, and corporate sectors. Companies with a Green Key certification go to great lengths to protect the environment, all while ensuring their guests don’t compromise on comfort and quality. They go above and beyond what standard regulations require. The Green Key certification aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2015-2030.
New energy label
In November 2023, a new energy label was requested for the Center Offices section of New Babylon. This label indicates how energy-efficient the building is. The assessment considered the insulation of the building and the systems for heating, cooling, hot water, ventilation, humidification, and lighting. The less fossil energy a building uses, the better the energy label. We are pleased to inform you that Energy Label A++ has been registered for this section.
